Malia bit the inside of her cheek. She flet kind of bad for making it painfully obvious that she was still affected by what happened to her. Right after she had to convince him that she would be okay as long as he was around. He’d be around if they went to the city, though, so why was she still so scared by it? She gripped his hand a little tighter and closed her eyes for a moment. “Maybe later we can go..” she murmured. Later meaning when she was sure she wouldn’t freak out and look over her shoulder every three seconds if she went to the city. But she didn’t want to stay away forever, and she knew the longer she put it off, the harder it’d be to get over it. She sat up a bit, an idea coming to her suddenly. “Maybe we could stay with my family for a bit..?” she asked him, looking at him for his reaction.

“Sure,” he said with a gentle smile and a shrug. He thought her family liked him well enough. Hopefully. He knew her mother disapproved of their hasty relationship, but to be honest, he could care less. He knew he loved her and she loved him, and that’s all that mattered. “If not New York, do you wanna go to Massachusetts or something? Maybe we can drive to Boston. I mean, I have my license, and you have your license.. we can definitely go and hang out there for a day.” He shrugged. “Maybe we could visit a couple people while we’re down there.” Who did live down in Boston anyway? He knew Julian did. Maybe Koda.. He wasn’t particularly sure.. he didn’t exactly keep tabs on everyone at camp.

Malia was about to argue that she didn’t mind coming here, in fact, she wanted to. But once again, she let it drop. She was never that vocal anymore, and she just let others do the talking as opposed to sharing the conversation. She sighed, keeping still as he kissed her head. She smiled and slowly moved her arms around him. Now, even his slim figure seemed much bigger than her waist, and she thought for a moment her arms wouldn’t even reach all the way around. But as always the fingers of her left hand wrapped around her right wrist and she could fit her head perfectly into the curve of his collarbone. She closed her eyes, already sleepy after just this short time. But she refused to go back to the infirmary yet. She had so much time he wanted to make up with him first. She would have shrugged to his answer, but she wasn’t in the right position for it. She’d have to talk. “I dunno..” she murmured. “Maybe we could go to the city…?” But then she remembered that Rae and Hazel were taken because of their trip to the city. She knew Hecate was gone, but the thought of what happened to them, to her, came flooding back. “Or not..” she quickly amended, her voice quieter.

“What’s so wrong about-” His voice fell, when he realized what happened in the city. “Oh.” He had forgotten, completely, about what happened. “Um, maybe we can just drive around.. or something,” he murmured softly. He didn’t have much idea of what to do, or where to go. He didn’t have that active of an imagination. hE laid his head onto hers and kissed her forehead softly. He wished he could do something for her to make up for everything…something eventful. He sighed. Though what.. he didn’t have the slightest idea. “I should of brought my guitar out here,” he murmured looking up. “It would have made things a bit more peaceful.”

Malia stared at Drew while he carried her through the forest. At first, she thought they were going to the beach, but once he gently jumped over the creek she knew they were heading someplace different. She smiled at bit. She didn’t mind going to the beach, but she decided not to say anything about it. She knew he was always worried that she was going to be bored with him if he did the same things. Honestly, she found the repetition comforting, especially after everything that happened. It was like she had a guarantee that she would be okay. But she was willing to go someplace new. When he sat down next to her, she shifted a bit and held his hand. She listened to him talk in silence, her head resting on his shoulder again. “Yeah.. it’s nice.” she said quietly after a moment. She liked it here, and it was like she was looking at a new part of Drew that she had never seen before. She gave a small smile and looked up at the stars. “I never knew you liked coming here so much..” she added. “We could come more often if you like it so much.”

“Nah. We can do whatever you wanna do,” Drew said, smiling down at her. He ran a hand through her hair and kissed the top of her head. “Malia, you do know I love you. Even that week we were apart. I still loved you. I will never stop loving you, Malia Cashe,” He wrapped her arms around her and hugged her tightly. He said those things because he didn’t want to lose her again. he had already lost her, not once, twice, and each time, he felt himself break a bit at the time. Malia was unlike anyone he’s ever met. She’s sweet, and fiesty at the same time. He liked that about her. The bittersweetness. He closed his eyes and leaned his head ontop of hers. “So what do you wanna do when you get out of the infirmary?”

Zane looked like he was going to start yelling, standing up from his seat with a look of defiance. Malia couldn’t help but feel a little pang of guilt for him. He was only trying to help after all. She looked up at Drew and nodded. “Please, get me out of here.” She looked back at the blonde and gave an apologetic smile. “I’ll make sure he really does bring me back. Sorry, I just really want to go out.” She looked back at Drew and smiled. “Let’s go..” she said, wrapping her arms around his neck and looking longingly out the window. Zane said nothing, sitting in his seat, pouting. Malia could tell he wanted to report them, but was holding back for some reason. She noted that she’d have to thank him later, too. Once he disappeared from her view, she looked up at Drew. He seemed so calm, and that smile always pulled one of her own to her lips. She leaned her head against his chest, sighing contentedly.

Drew walked slowly to the forest, careful to avoid any possible obstacles that might cause harm to the girl in his arms. He ducked under branches, avoided large rocks, and tried not to make his landings so shaky when he jumped over to the small creek. “I figured you’d want a change of scenery from the beach since we go there so often,” He said with a small smile as he set Malia down against the trees. This was one of his favorite parts of the forest. He loved this gap between the trees which allowed him to see the sky and at night, the stars. He had a thing for stars. He liked how brightly they lit up a dark sky, and how each constellation formed a story. He liked stories. Oral stories, more like legends.  For the most part. They were his favorite part of stories around the campfire.   “I really like this place. I used to come here a lot more when I wanted to get away from everyone and everything. When I just wanted to detach from the world for a bit, y’know?” He said and sighed.

The son of Apollo smirked. “Not a problem. It was the least I could do, since you decided not to show up.” He crossed his arms and looked at the two of them. Malia raised her eyebrows at him, silently warning him that he better not push it. He ignored her and continued to stare at Drew. “I’m Zane, to answer your question. And since you seem to care so much, and she probably won’t tell you, she’s fine, although she still has to be carried everywhere. Her legs are too weak for her to walk on her own.” Malia hid her scowl and looked at Drew. “I’m sure I could, Drew, if they would actually let me.” She controlled herself, and resisted to urge to give Zane a dirty look. Drew was worried enough about her, he didn’t have to rub the fact that she was still weak in his face.

Drew shifted and tilted his head sideways, glaring at Zane. “Yeah, I know, and I apologized to the person who it affects,” He said flatly and kissed Malia’s cheek to prove his point. He felt a pang of guilt though when he said that. He hasn’t visited her to make sure Malia was getting better for his own selfish reasons… Even though he knew it was dangerous, he should of at least visited her.  He raised an eyebrow and small smile formed on his lips when she mentioned she could be carried. “Zane, I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to take Malia for some fresh air because fresh air helps everyone get better,” He said to him with a nod. “I’ll bring her back, promise.” Without an answer from him, Drew just picked her up and held her to his chest bridal style. He looked down at his girlfriend. “Um, do you mind? I could care less about what Zane says, but are you okay with it?”

Malia watches Chris leave with a small grin. She would have to find him once she got out and thank him privately. But for now, her attention was on Drew. Gods, how she had missed him. She leaned in and kissed him again, making up for lost time. Once he got back from California, she really only had a day to spend with him before Hecate stepped in again, so to her it still felt like it had been weeks with him gone. She sighed, taking him in and moving gingerly so she was sitting next to him, her legs over the side of the bed. “I wish we could go do something..” she muttered. “But, I’m not allowed..” she added with another sigh. She heard someone approach them, and didn’t even have to look to know it was Zane making his way back. “Nice to see you finally join us.” he said to Drew, his voice sounding a bit too smug for Malia’s liking.

Drew smiled and moved a bit so she wouldn’t have to move that much to sit next to him. He put an arm around her and pulled her close to him. “Rules, what fun are those,” he murmured and kissed her cheek. He raised an eyebrow at the kid approaching and smirked. Who was he..? Was this the guy who was taking care of Malia?  Us, that answered his question.   “Thanks for taking caring of Malia. I appreciate it. It’s good to know someone was looking out for her.” He squeezed Malia’s shoulder. “What’s your name?”

Malia blinked, smiling when she saw him smile. It felt good seeing him like that again, after so long. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, this time on the lips. “Yes, obviously.” she whispered, pulling him a little closer. She kept him in a hug for a while, burying her face in his shoulder. “I’m already happier.” she mumbled into the fabric of his shirt. “And like you said.” she continued, lifting her head to look at her, “she’s gone. She can’t bother me, send me here anymore.” She smiled again and went back to the hug.

Drew grinned, and hugged her back. “I hope so.” It felt so nice to have Malia in his arms. For better or for worst, he decided against his better judgement, he was going to be with Malia, no amtter what the cost is going to be.

Christopher laughed and put both Malia and Drew on the back. “WEWT! I did something good for the world! Peace is restored again!” He smiled widely. “I’ll leave you two alone. If you need anything, I’ll be in the forest working on some magic stuff. See ya!” He winked and headed out. “OH and Drew.” He leaned against the door frame.

Drew turned turned toward his brother. “Yeah?”

“I told ya so.” He smiled widely and ran out.

Drew just rolled his eyes.
